About The Role

As the Medical Coding Manager for AI Evaluation, you will oversee professional fee and/or facility inpatient coding operations while evaluating and improving AI-assisted coding performance. You’ll partner with internal teams to refine coding guidelines, drive audit outcomes, and ensure consistent, compliant results across diverse settings.

What You’ll Do

• Manage coding operations for professional fee and/or facility inpatient coding to ensure reliable, accurate coding.
• Oversee quality and compliance through structured audits, monitoring, and corrective action when coding performance falls short.
• Evaluate AI-assisted coding output by reviewing coding accuracy, documentation alignment, and guideline adherence.
• Improve coding productivity by identifying workflow bottlenecks and implementing standard processes that reduce rework.
• Ensure coding accuracy across specialties and complexity levels by applying established coding rules and payer expectations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate audit findings into actionable improvements for coding systems and workflows.
• Maintain operational standards including productivity targets, quality benchmarks, and reporting cadence.
• Support training and continuous improvement by sharing best practices and coaching coders or reviewers as needed.
• Monitor compliance risks and help ensure coding practices meet regulatory and organizational requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven leadership in medical coding, including experience overseeing professional fee and/or inpatient facility coding teams or operations.
• Strong coding expertise with a demonstrated ability to ensure accuracy and consistency using established coding guidelines.
• Experience with audits and quality assurance, including identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Comfort evaluating AI-assisted or automated coding outputs—you know what “good” looks like and can spot errors quickly.
• Deep compliance mindset with a track record of adhering to healthcare coding standards and payer expectations.
• Excellent communication skills to translate findings into clear, practical improvements for stakeholders.
• Organizational strength with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and turnaround expectations.
• Relevant coding credentials (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent) preferred—your expertise should be current and credible.
