Manufacturing Engineer (Continuous Improvement) — Birmingham

Build the systems that help defence-focused electrical panel manufacturing scale with confidence. At McGeoch Technology Ltd., you’ll join our Continuous Improvement team during an exciting growth phase—expanding manufacturing capacity, strengthening testing, and improving quality and throughput across the operation.

This is a hands-on, engineering role for someone who enjoys solving real manufacturing problems, improving processes end-to-end, and working closely with production teams to deliver measurable results.

About The Role

McGeoch Technology is a specialist in electrical panel manufacturing for the defence sector. We’re preparing for a significant expansion of our manufacturing capability over the coming seven years. That means more production, more testing, and more opportunities to improve how we work—supported by your engineering expertise.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality, and reliability—while supporting the ramp-up of manufacturing and test capabilities.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and deliver continuous improvement projects across manufacturing and test processes.
  • Analyse production performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, yield, and throughput.
  • Support the development and optimisation of manufacturing methods, work instructions, and process parameters.
  • Work closely with production teams to reduce defects, rework, and downtime.
  • Strengthen test processes by identifying gaps, improving procedures, and supporting validation activity.
  • Contribute to the setup and improvement of quality controls to ensure consistent build quality.
  • Support the scaling of manufacturing capability as the business grows over the next seven years.
  • Document improvements and ensure changes are communicated effectively across relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners (engineering, production, quality, and operations) to deliver outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be a “perfect fit” on day one—but you should be someone who brings strong manufacturing problem-solving skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the drive to make improvements stick.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment (engineering or process-focused roles preferred).
  • Demonstrable experience with continuous improvement principles and practical problem-solving.
  • Strong ability to analyse processes and translate findings into actionable engineering changes.
  • Comfort partnering with production teams—communicating clearly and working collaboratively to implement improvements.
  • Experience supporting test and quality processes is highly desirable.
  • Strong documentation habits—able to create clear, reliable process documentation and records.
  • A proactive approach to identifying risks, opportunities, and improvements before issues escalate.
  • Good attention to detail, with a focus on delivering measurable impact.
