Cyber Security Analyst (6-Month Contract) — Hybrid (Inside IR35)
Ready to get stuck into real-world cyber defence? CHANGE-IT CONSULTING LTD. is looking for a hands-on Cyber Security Analyst to support a major public-sector organisation with its cyber security operations and resilience programme. This is a practical, incident-focused role where you’ll monitor, investigate, and help strengthen the organisation’s security posture—using modern tooling and proven analyst techniques.
Contract length: 6 months
IR35: Inside IR35
Work model: Hybrid (2 days onsite)
About The Role
You’ll be joining a security operations environment where your day-to-day impact is measurable. You’ll help the team maintain effective monitoring, respond quickly and accurately to security events, and contribute to ongoing improvements in detection and resilience. If you enjoy working with logs, alerts, and threat intelligence—and you’re comfortable taking ownership of investigations—this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to cyber security incidents in line with agreed procedures and escalation paths.
- Support security monitoring using Microsoft Sentinel and related security monitoring tools.
- Conduct threat hunting to identify suspicious activity, validate hypotheses, and surface actionable findings.
- Perform log analysis to correlate events, understand attack paths, and determine scope and impact.
- Carry out security investigations—from triage through to detailed analysis and documentation.
- Review alerts and detection outputs to reduce false positives and improve the quality of monitoring.
- Work with the wider cyber security team to support continuous improvements to incident response and resilience activities.
- Maintain clear, accurate records of findings, timelines, and investigation outcomes for auditability.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience working as a Cyber Security Analyst (SOC, detection, or incident response experience is ideal).
- Hands-on capability with security monitoring and investigation workflows.
- Experience with Microsoft Sentinel or comparable SIEM/SOAR tooling (Sentinel strongly preferred).
- Strong log analysis skills with the ability to connect the dots across multiple data sources.
- Comfort with threat hunting and structured investigation approaches.
- Good judgement under pressure—able to triage effectively and escalate appropriately.
- Clear communication—able to explain findings and next steps to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Security mindset with attention to detail, documentation discipline, and process awareness.
Why This Role?
- Work on meaningful, public-sector security challenges where reliability and resilience matter.
- Hybrid working (2 days onsite) with the flexibility you need to do high-quality analysis.
- Modern tooling—you’ll work with Microsoft Sentinel and security monitoring practices.
- Hands-on investigations—this isn’t a passive monitoring role; you’ll actively hunt, investigate, and improve outcomes.
- 6-month contract giving you a strong opportunity to deliver impact quickly.
Benefits
- Competitive contract compensation based on experience.
- Hybrid schedule with an agreed onsite cadence.
- Opportunity to contribute to a cyber security operations and resilience programme.
- Work with experienced teams focused on continuous improvement and strong operational discipline.
