Forbes Advisor is looking for a Health Staff Writer to publish 2–3 timely, well-reported stories each day across health and wellness—while staying tightly aligned with SEO best practices and Forbes Health editorial standards. If you’re energized by service journalism, comfortable translating complex science into everyday language, and thrive in a high-output newsroom environment, this contract role could be your next great move.

About The Role

This is a four-month contract position with the potential to convert to permanent based on performance and business needs. You’ll work closely with editors, compliance, and cross-functional teams to ensure every story is accurate, compliant, and written for real readers—not just search engines.

You’ll also collaborate with a strong editorial team across content, SEO, production, and social to maximize reach and impact.

What You’ll Do

• Write 2–3 daily news and trend stories focused on health and wellness verticals—fast, accurate, and engaging.
• Pitch high-impact story ideas each day based on trending topics, search patterns, and vertical priorities.
• Report independently while still aligning with editorial direction and quality expectations.
• Translate complex medical and scientific information into concise, accessible articles for a broad consumer audience.
• Collaborate with editors and a Managing Editor to maintain quality standards and improve editorial outcomes.
• Publish consistently and use performance insights to refine how you structure and report stories.
• Update stories proactively when new information breaks—so readers always have the most current context.
• Work cross-functionally with compliance to ensure brand standards are met and content is accurate and appropriate for Forbes Health.
• Follow AP Style and Forbes Health’s in-house editorial style guide.
• Use SEO best practices in story planning, reporting, and structuring (without sacrificing clarity or trust).
• Coordinate with the social team to help maximize distribution across channels including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter/X, and more.

• Proven ability to simplify complex health topics into actionable takeaways written for everyday readers.
• Working knowledge of SEO best practices and how they support editorial goals.
• Exceptional organization and attention to detail—able to manage multiple daily deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Comfort pivoting coverage as news trends shift, traffic performance changes, or editorial priorities evolve.
• Creative judgment that matches Forbes Health’s tone, voice, and audience-first approach.
• Openness to feedback and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.
