Clerky, Inc.
About Clerky
Clerky builds software that makes legal paperwork easier for startups and the attorneys who support them. We’re profitable, growing sustainably, and trusted by high-growth technology startups to form companies, manage legal workflows, and move faster—without sacrificing quality. If you care about helping founders and operators get the right paperwork done (often under real-world time pressure), you’ll feel at home here.
About The Role
As a Customer Operations & Writing Specialist at Clerky, you’ll be the voice of our company. Thousands of startup founders, investors, and attorneys reach out to us with urgent, nuanced questions—because they’re using Clerky to get critical legal work completed. Your job is to respond with clarity, empathy, and precision.
At Clerky, word-of-mouth matters. We’re known for world-class service and strong customer satisfaction. This role is at the center of that reputation—where great writing, careful thinking, and customer-first judgment directly shape the experience people have with our product.
What Makes This Role Different
This is not “FAQ autopilot.” Helping customers at Clerky can be uniquely challenging because questions are often specialized, context-dependent, and sometimes impossible to answer with a single definitive response. You’ll need to think critically, write with care, and iterate based on feedback—because the best outcomes come from craftsmanship.
- Nuanced customer questions that require more than surface-level answers
- Iterative writing—you’ll refine responses through feedback several times per day
- Continuous learning about startups and startup law as you work
- Real judgment—you’ll often help customers figure out what’s knowable, what isn’t, and how to proceed
What You’ll Do
You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality support through writing, investigation, and collaboration. Day-to-day, you’ll move between customer communication, help center improvements, and product feedback loops.
- Write thoughtful, empathetic customer replies via our help desk software (Help Scout), translating complex situations into clear guidance.
- Maintain and improve our help center by writing and updating articles, and identifying what topics we should add next based on recurring customer questions.
- Partner with Engineering to debug issues our customers encounter—helping reproduce problems, report findings clearly, and validate fixes.
- Use Clerky’s software in depth to develop and manage new ways for customers to complete legal paperwork, ensuring the experience is accurate and usable.
- Support product quality by testing new features and bug fixes, and conveying customer feedback in a way that helps teams ship better.
- Spot trends early in customer issues so other team members can be alerted to patterns, friction, or gaps before they become widespread.
How We Work
- Remote-first, always: Clerky has been remote-first for many years—well before COVID.
- Small team, big impact: everyone’s contributions matter, and decisions are made with care.
- Autonomous and efficient: we trust teammates to know what will make them most productive, with flexible schedules as long as we maintain coverage.
- Open, collaborative communication: we work openly and support each other to help you succeed.
- Growth is built in: we provide a budget for books, courses, tools, or any educational resources you need.
- Reasonable hours: we aim for sustainable pace with customers who are reasonable to support.

- Logical, analytical thinking to interpret context and reason through uncertainty
