Java Developer for AI Systems Training

Help train the next generation of AI systems. As a Java Developer at SaidGig, you’ll use your Java expertise to build and improve the data and tooling that powers real-world AI learning. Your work will directly shape how models understand information, reason through tasks, and perform reliably in production—turning high-quality inputs into better outcomes.

If you enjoy building robust backend services, working with datasets and pipelines, and collaborating with teams that care deeply about quality, this is a role where your engineering directly impacts what AI can do.

About The Role

You’ll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based systems that support AI training workflows. That means creating reliable services and integrations, improving data processing and validation, and helping ensure training inputs are accurate, consistent, and ready for large-scale model learning.

This role is a great fit for developers who want to combine strong engineering fundamentals with meaningful, hands-on impact on AI performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and maintain Java services that support AI systems training and data preparation workflows.
  • Build data pipelines to ingest, transform, validate, and package high-quality training inputs.
  • Implement quality controls to ensure datasets meet required formats, schemas, and performance expectations.
  • Optimize performance and reliability of training-related processing jobs (throughput, latency, and error handling).
  • Integrate with internal systems and external services/APIs that supply or consume training data.
  • Write clean, testable code with strong attention to maintainability and observability.
  • Troubleshoot and improve pipeline failures, data issues, and edge cases that affect model training outcomes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with AI/ML engineers, data specialists, and product stakeholders to align engineering deliverables with training goals.
  • Contribute to documentation so systems are understandable, repeatable, and easy to operate.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong Java development experience (backend services, APIs, and/or data processing systems).
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals: OOP, concurrency basics, testing practices, and clean code.
  • Experience building or working with data pipelines (ETL/ELT, batch processing, streaming concepts, or large dataset handling).
  • Comfort with debugging complex issues across systems, data, and integrations.
  • Ability to design for reliability—including validation, idempotency, error recovery, and clear operational behavior.
  • Good communication skills to translate requirements into engineering solutions and collaborate effectively.
  • Bonus (but not required):
    • Exposure to AI/ML training workflows or dataset preparation concepts.
    • Experience with cloud environments and job orchestration.
    • Familiarity with frameworks and tooling commonly used in backend systems and data engineering.

Why SaidGig

At SaidGig, we build with purpose. This role is designed for engineers who want their work to matter—where improving data quality, tooling reliability, and pipeline performance directly enhances AI capabilities.

  • Real impact on how AI models learn and perform.
  • Engineering-first culture focused on quality, clarity, and maintainable systems.
  • Collaboration with teams working at the intersection of software and AI.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation aligned with experience.
  • Opportunities to grow your expertise in AI-adjacent systems and large-scale data workflows.
  • Supportive team environment where good engineering practices are valued.
  • Meaningful work with measurable outcomes in AI training quality.
