About The Role

Turn curiosity into real-world impact as an AmeriCorps Service Member in Field Education in Jackson, WY. You’ll help bring place-based learning to life for visiting students—then deepen your community connection through a partner nonprofit project right here in Jackson. This is a hands-on service role built for people who love education, enjoy working outdoors and in the field, and want their work to matter.

What You’ll Do

Your service term is split into two meaningful parts, giving you both educational experience and community service impact:

  • Plan and implement place-based education programs for visiting students, helping them learn through local environments, culture, and hands-on activities.
  • Support field-based learning experiences that bring curriculum to life in ways that are engaging, inclusive, and age-appropriate.
  • Coordinate program logistics including preparation, materials, and day-of support to ensure students have a smooth, memorable experience.
  • Facilitate learning and participation by guiding activities, answering questions, and encouraging student engagement.
  • Work alongside staff and educators to deliver high-quality programming and adapt activities as needed.
  • Participate in a partner nonprofit project with a local organization to strengthen the Jackson community.
  • Contribute to community goals by supporting the nonprofit’s work and helping meet local needs.

What We’re Looking For

You don’t need to be a perfect teacher—you need to bring energy, reliability, and a genuine interest in learning-by-doing. We’re looking for someone who can collaborate well, communicate clearly, and show up ready to serve.

  • Strong interest in education and youth development, especially place-based or experiential learning.
  • Comfort working with students and supporting positive, inclusive learning environments.
  • Ability to work in the outdoors and in the field as part of educational programming.
  • Team mindset—you’ll collaborate with staff, educators, and community partners throughout the term.
  • Good communication and organization to help with planning, logistics, and program support.
  • Commitment to service and a desire to strengthen the Jackson community through a nonprofit partnership.
