About The Role

As a Robotics Simulation Engineer for Asteria ART, you’ll build tools that let robotic engineers simulate and test their robots inside rich, relevant virtual environments. You’ll work side-by-side with the people who will use what you build—so your engineering decisions directly impact simulation quality, iteration speed, and scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Create parametric / procedural 3D environments that can be generated, modified, and reused across simulation scenarios.
  • Integrate AI-driven workflows to generate simulations or simulation assets from text, images, and other inputs.
  • Customize and tune simulation engine performance to support simulation at scale without sacrificing realism.
  • Implement custom sensor models so simulated perception matches the behavior engineers expect from real sensors.
  • Collaborate closely with robotics engineers to understand their needs and translate them into robust tooling and workflows.
  • Iterate quickly: improve simulation fidelity, stability, and developer experience based on real usage and feedback.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for engineers who care about realism, tooling quality, and making simulation useful—not just impressive. You’ll thrive if you enjoy building systems that combine 3D, robotics constraints, and software engineering discipline.

Strong fit if you have experience with one or more of the following:

  • Programming: Rust, Python, C++ (or equivalent development experience)
  • 3D engines & physics simulation: Unreal, Unity, Ogre3D… and physics simulation libraries like Dart, ODE, PhysX
  • Parametric 3D modeling: Blender nodes, OpenSCAD… (or similar approaches)
  • Generative AI for 3D / CAD: using or building pipelines that create geometry or assets

Nice to have (optional):

  • Experience with robotics or robotics simulators
  • Experience with Photogrammetry / NeRF
  • Experience with cloud computing / high performance computing
  • Experience working with GIS data sources
  • Experience building generative AI pipelines or training ML models
  • Experience with 3D printing
  • UI/UX design experience (especially for developer-facing tooling)

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has a genuine enthusiasm for realistic simulation software and interactive environments.
  • Enjoys tackling hard problems—even when the work is messy and there’s no perfect path upfront.
  • Can demonstrate analytical thinking and strong engineering judgment.
  • Is comfortable working in a startup environment where priorities evolve and ownership matters.
  • Understands the importance of building tools with engineers, not just for them.

Education: A graduate degree can be helpful, but it’s not required to apply. If a work visa is needed, the process can be more difficult without extensive, related work experience.
