Put your leadership and customer service skills to work in a role where you’ll help create a welcoming, safe, and high-performing environment every day. As our Front of House Supervisor, you’ll be the calm, capable presence that keeps service running smoothly—while ensuring standards are met and customers (and colleagues) feel genuinely looked after.
About HCL
At HCL, safeguarding is our number one priority. The safety and wellbeing of children, young people, and vulnerable individuals are at the heart of everything we do.
We serve over 16 million meals each year, delivering high-quality catering services across schools and commercial settings. If you’re someone who takes pride in service, understands the importance of professionalism, and enjoys leading from the front—this is a great opportunity.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the front-of-house team to deliver a consistently welcoming, customer-focused dining and service experience.
- Oversee daily front-of-house operations, ensuring smooth service flow, strong communication, and high standards.
- Support exceptional customer service by greeting visitors and customers professionally and resolving issues promptly and politely.
- Maintain service and presentation standards, ensuring areas are clean, organised, and ready for each service period.
- Ensure compliance with site procedures, including health, safety, and safeguarding expectations.
- Help drive a positive team culture—coaching, supporting, and motivating colleagues to perform at their best.
- Monitor quality and consistency during service and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Assist with operational planning, including supporting shift coverage and day-to-day scheduling needs.
- Promote a safe environment by following safeguarding practices and reporting concerns in line with company policy.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in a front-of-house, hospitality, catering, or customer-facing supervisory role.
- A strong understanding of customer service standards and the ability to keep service running smoothly under pressure.
- Confidence leading a team—approachable, organised, and able to coach others in the moment.
- High attention to detail, with a practical approach to quality, cleanliness, and presentation.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with customers, colleagues, and site stakeholders.
- A genuine commitment to safeguarding and professional conduct.
- Reliability and flexibility to support operational needs across the contract period.
Why This Role Matters
This is more than a supervisory position—it’s a frontline leadership role in a setting where care, safety, and service quality must come together. You’ll help ensure that every meal service feels organised, respectful, and welcoming, while supporting our safeguarding-first culture.
Benefits
- 6-month fixed-term contract in a supportive, mission-led organisation.
- Training and support to help you succeed in the role and maintain standards.
- Work that makes a difference—supporting safe, high-quality catering for vulnerable groups and customers.
- Career development opportunities within HCL’s catering and service operations.
