South Wales Police
About The Role
Help keep South Wales Police running at full speed. As an ICT Enterprise Specialist, you’ll play a key role in designing, supporting, and improving the technology that underpins day-to-day policing across Wales. If you’re passionate about enterprise systems, enjoy solving complex technical challenges, and want your work to have real-world impact—this is the role for you.
South Wales Police serves around 1.3 million people across 2,117 square miles, and your expertise will directly contribute to delivering reliable, secure, and effective ICT services to colleagues and the communities they serve.
What You’ll Do
In this permanent, full-time position, you’ll be responsible for enterprise-level ICT support and technical improvement. You’ll work across teams to ensure systems are stable, secure, and aligned with business needs—while continuously looking for ways to enhance performance and resilience.
- Provide specialist ICT support for enterprise systems, troubleshooting incidents and addressing root causes.
- Support the design, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise technologies used across the organisation.
- Contribute to technical planning and implementation of improvements, ensuring solutions are practical, scalable, and reliable.
- Work with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical outcomes.
- Maintain strong documentation standards for systems, processes, and configurations.
- Support security and compliance practices by helping ensure systems follow agreed standards and controls.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver changes and resolve complex issues.
- Monitor performance and service health, helping identify trends and opportunities to prevent future incidents.
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need to be a “jack of all trades”—but you should be someone who can confidently handle enterprise environments, communicate clearly, and take ownership of technical problems until they’re resolved.
- Strong experience providing enterprise-level ICT support and troubleshooting complex issues.
- Knowledge of how enterprise systems operate end-to-end, including dependencies and service impacts.
- Ability to work through problems logically, using evidence and structured investigation.
- Comfort working with documentation, process, and configuration detail.
- Good communication skills—able to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A proactive mindset: you look for ways to improve services, not just fix problems.
- Commitment to security, confidentiality, and compliance in line with organisational expectations.
Location: Bridgend. Working Hours: 37 hours per week.
Why South Wales Police?
This is more than a technical role. You’ll be supporting an organisation that plays a vital part in keeping communities safe. Your work will help ensure colleagues have dependable technology—so they can focus on what matters most.
Benefits
- Competitive salary of £47,046 – £54,696 per annum.
- Permanent contract with stable, full-time hours (37 hours per week).
- The opportunity to build your career within a large, innovative organisation.
- Work that has real impact on public service delivery across Wales.
- Supportive working environment with collaboration across ICT and business teams.
