Lemon.io

About Lemon.io

Lemon.io is building the autopilot for hiring.

We’ve replaced slow, expensive recruiting agencies with a platform that delivers vetted, responsive candidates—ready for a final interview in days, not weeks. Hundreds of fast-growing companies use Lemon to scale engineering teams, from early-stage startups to global enterprises.

We’re profitable, bootstrapped, and growing—at a time when the legacy recruiting industry is being rewritten in real time. And there’s a problem: we have an incredible story… but almost no one is telling it.

You’ll be the person who changes that. You’ll own Lemon’s external voice and make the market treat us like the category leader in engineering hiring.

About The Role

Communications Manager (Senior IC) — reporting directly to the founder.

This is a senior individual-contributor role with real ownership. You’ll set the tone, build the systems, and drive distribution so that something from Lemon is visible every day where our buyers and candidates already spend their time.

The goal is simple (and intense): make Lemon impossible to ignore in the engineering-hiring conversation.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be responsible for both writing and the distribution engine behind it. This isn’t “post occasionally.” It’s running a continuous pipeline that never stalls.

  • Executive Communications & Founder Brand

    • Lead the creation and execution of founders’ personal brand platforms
    • Produce and distribute day-to-day content across founders’ channels
    • Support and amplify earned media opportunities including podcasts, panels, op-eds, and speaking
  • Internal News Scouting & Narrative Development

    • Attend product, customer success, sales, and ops syncs to identify stories worth telling
    • Spot “company moments” early—and shape them into strong narratives for the outside world
    • Translate internal milestones, launches, learnings, and customer wins into compelling external content
    • Distribute content through social and traditional media channels
  • Team Engagement & Employee Storytelling

    • Build and support an internal content program that helps employees across functions engage publicly
    • Equip team members with ready-to-use content and templates so they can share their work confidently
    • Coordinate the team’s participation in industry conversations across multiple channels
  • Monitoring, Automation & Communications Metrics

    • Build and maintain content and distribution workflows using AI tools
    • Set up monitoring for brand mentions, press coverage, and audience growth
    • Track, grow, and report on key communications metrics quarterly

How This Role Works (Day-to-Day Expectations)

This is an intensive role. You’ll be producing daily and building systems for distribution that keep moving—because momentum matters in communications.

  • Run a continuous content pipeline from internal inputs → narratives → drafts → publishing → amplification
  • Ensure content is consistent, timely, and aligned with Lemon’s positioning
  • Measure what’s working and refine distribution with data + judgment

What We’re Looking For

  • Native or fluent English with cultural fluency for the US tech audience
  • A genuinely strong writer who can craft clear, compelling narratives—not just “good posts”
  • Experience being the voice behind someone else’s posts (founders, executives, public operators)
  • A track record telling the story of a company, product, or movement over time
  • Background or depth in technology, B2B software, talent/recruiting, dev tools, or closely adjacent industries
  • Deep immersion in independent media: Substackers, podcasters, and influencers on X or LinkedIn
  • AI is already part of how you work (not theory—practice)
  • Comfort operating in genuine uncertainty (you’ll be creating in spaces where the “right answer” isn’t obvious)
  • Results-oriented with a bias toward action and impact
  • Motivation to join a small, fast-paced, high-trust team where output matters

We’re Especially Interested If You’ve Done Any of This

  • Built a founder brand program from early positioning to consistent output
  • Turned internal product/customer wins into public narratives that landed with the right audience
  • Created repurposing workflows (one idea → multiple formats) without losing quality
  • Used AI tools responsibly to increase speed while protecting voice and judgment
  • Set up monitoring and reporting to connect communications to measurable growth

Success Looks Like in Your First 4 Weeks

  • You’ve built systems to capture content from the team and product—and a way to manufacture news reliably
  • You’ve launched an amplification program so messages travel beyond the founders’ owned channels
  • A repurposing workflow exists: one idea becomes a post, a thread, a clip, newsletter lines, etc. without restarting from scratch
  • You’ve identified the 3–5 narratives everyone will repeat (and ensured they’re consistent across formats)
  • You’ve identified a few internal voices and enabled them to post regularly with systems that feed them content ideas
  • By week 4, the founder’s social posts are going out 4–5 times per week
  • Baseline metrics are captured so growth is measurable from a known starting point

Application Process

To apply, send:

  • Three writing samples that show range. At least one should be in a voice that isn’t yours—e.g., something you ghost-wrote for an executive/founder/public-facing operator.
  • A short note (200 words or fewer) explaining why this role and what you’d want to ship in your first 90 days. We’re not looking for a resume recap—we want to see how you think and what you’d actually do.

What to Expect

  • Application review within 7 days
  • 45-minute call with the hiring team
  • Paid trial project (up to 10 hours)
  • Final 60-minute conversation with the founder
  • Reference checks and offer

We aim to move from application to offer in 3–4 weeks.

Benefits

  • Work directly with the founder in a high-trust, high-ownership environment
  • Freedom that comes from being bootstrapped—fast decisions, real impact
  • Opportunity to define Lemon’s voice and build a communications engine that compounds
  • Small team, meaningful role, and clear expectations tied to measurable outputs
