About The Role

As a Full-Stack Rails Tech Lead, you’ll architect and build LLM-powered web applications inside our microservices-based Rails 8 platform. Reporting directly to our CTO, you’ll partner with a small, high-impact team to deliver user experiences across Dividend.com, MutualFunds.com, and other brands in our portfolio.

This is a leadership role for someone who can go deep on Ruby on Rails, integrate AI capabilities into real product workflows, and shape technical decisions that improve both latency and cost. You’ll bring clarity, momentum, and a “get things done” mindset to a product-focused environment.

What You’ll Do

• Lead end-to-end engineering for Rails-based features—from architecture and implementation to delivery and iteration.
• Architect and maintain Rails 8 applications that serve fast, reliable, user-facing experiences.
• Integrate LLMs into our microservices architecture to support state management and real-time, AI-driven interactions.
• Build responsive UI experiences using Hotwire, StimulusJS, or React—ensuring AI interactions feel seamless and intuitive.
• Optimize LLM inference to keep performance snappy and costs under control through:
  • Strategic caching
  • Asynchronous processing
  • Practical latency/cost trade-offs
• Work within our project model using ShapeUp, balancing time-to-ship with outcome-focused scoping and de-scoping when needed.
• Make system-level decisions with a seat at the table: data flow, service boundaries, and how AI capabilities plug into the platform.
• Collaborate closely with leadership (including the CEO and CTO) to influence our AI-driven roadmap and technical direction.
• Mentor teammates through pairing, code reviews, and practical guidance—while still owning meaningful individual contributions.

What We’re Looking For

Required Technical Skills

Back-End

• Ruby (5+ years, expert-level)
• Ruby on Rails (Rails 6–8 preferred)
• PostgreSQL (or MySQL)
• Elasticsearch
• Redis
• Docker

Front-End

• StimulusJS or JavaScript ES6
• Tailwind CSS
• HTML
• HTTP fundamentals (request/response flow, headers, caching behavior, etc.)

AI Integration

• Experience integrating AI/ML models (including LLMs and NLP) into production web applications
• Familiarity with LLM tooling such as:
  • LangChain and/or Hugging Face
• Experience working with LLM APIs (examples include xAI and Anthropic)

Nice-to-Have Technical Skills

• Kubernetes for microservices orchestration
• React for advanced front-end components
• Graph databases for complex financial data modeling
• Contributions to open-source Rails or AI projects
