Make a Real Difference—Lead Community Volunteers at Ronald McDonald House

Every day, families navigating a child’s serious illness need more than just medical care—they need support, comfort, and a community that shows up. As our Volunteer Coordinator at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida, you’ll help recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers who make “home away from home” possible. If you’re an organized, people-first leader who loves building meaningful community connections, this role is for you.

About The Role

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida provides a welcoming place for families while their children receive treatment. Volunteers are essential to our mission—supporting day-to-day operations, creating a warm environment, and strengthening our community partnerships.

In this full-time role, you’ll own the volunteer experience end-to-end: from outreach and onboarding to scheduling, communication, and ongoing engagement. You’ll also serve as a trusted coordinator who ensures volunteers feel valued, informed, and ready to help.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate and manage volunteer engagement to ensure we have the right people, in the right roles, at the right times.
  • Recruit volunteers through community outreach, relationship-building, and promoting opportunities aligned with our mission.
  • Schedule volunteer shifts and maintain accurate availability and coverage to support House operations.
  • Onboard and train volunteers so they understand expectations, safety practices, and the importance of confidentiality and compassion.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently with volunteers before, during, and after shifts.
  • Track volunteer participation and status to support reporting and program continuity.
  • Support volunteer recognition and retention by identifying ways to celebrate contributions and keep engagement strong.
  • Collaborate with staff and leadership to align volunteer resources with current needs at the House.
  • Maintain organized volunteer records and ensure compliance with internal policies and best practices.
  • Represent Ronald McDonald House in a positive, mission-driven way within the community.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent of two years of non-profit work experience.
  • Experience working with volunteers or community programs (preferred, but not required).
  • Strong coordination and scheduling skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Excellent communication skills—friendly, professional, and able to build trust quickly.
  • A genuine commitment to service, empathy, and community impact.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a calm, supportive presence.
  • Comfort operating in a mission-driven environment where confidentiality and respect are essential.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep accurate records.

Schedule & Status

  • Full-Time
  • Some schedule flexibility may be required based on volunteer availability and House needs

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • Purpose-driven work that directly supports families during one of the hardest seasons of life.
  • Community connection—you’ll build relationships that strengthen our local impact.
  • Meaningful leadership—you’ll shape how volunteers experience the mission from start to finish.
  • A supportive culture focused on compassion, professionalism, and teamwork.

Benefits

We offer a supportive, mission-centered workplace. Benefits details will be shared during the hiring process.
